Bunker Hill?

I noticed this clump of trees near Slaley yesterday on my way to Hexham.  I couldn't even begin to guess how may times I have driven past  here over the years, thousands?

What I have never realised is that in the trees, is what appears to be an ex military bunker.  None of the locals seem to know anything about it so I will have to have a walk up there, perhaps tomorrow?

Depending on what I find and of course, depending on whether or not I get shot by the farmer, I will try and find out a little more....

  1. That's a fine shot and I'm looking forward to seeing what you find up there... Provided you get out alive...

  2. Oooo, can't wait to see what you find up there! Actually this post had me ringing my Ma (a Haltwhistle gal!) to check where the POW camp round there was....found this...
    .....fascinating stuff!

    Top shot too!!

  3. you could type the national grid reference into pastscape and see if the site is listed

  4. Ah! I missed this post but now your comments on Mo's make sense. Looking forward to seeing what you find there.

  5. I'm starting to get worried Jon.....
