The Walk on The Tyne Was all Mine........(and Hilary and Jack!)

Another lovely afternoon, Hilary and I went for a short walk beside The River Tyne in our village.

This monstrosity is a pumping station, part of the Kielder "Tree Rivers" project and pumps water from Kielder Water via the River Tyne over the hills into the River Wear and thereafter into the River Tees.

All the plants are springing into life, it was good to see swathes of Wood Anemone, such simple but beautiful flowers.

Hilary spotted a plant i'm not familiar with, a Butterburr

The Bird Cherry, Prunus avium.

Splendid!!

Spring.....

Well, we seemed to survive the promised frost last night, these narcissi have been out for a few days now and are just about the first thing to greet me as I let Jack out in the morning.

Landrover Experience Day

Thanks to "Landrover Evoque", Hilary and I spent a superb afternoon at Landrover Experience at Skipton in Yorkshire. Despite having driven Landrovers for years, the only only way to appreciate their extraordinary abilities is to be let loose in one of the brand new Defender ES models under the watchful eye of one of Landrover's brilliant instructors.

We are now saving up for two Defenders, one each!! (plus an extra one for the trips to Waitrose!)Image

Bowker BMW Balloon

It has been a lovely day here and a glorious still evening.

As I drove up to the cottage tonight this hot air ballon was drifting very slowly over the forest, the occasional roar of the burner in the cooling air.

Roe Deer

I came across this group of deer on the way up to the cottage this morning.

No matter how often I see them, especially those beside our burn it is always very special, such beautiful animals.
